CVSS 3.1 Score 7.2 of 10 (high)
Details
Summary
CVE-2023-6449 is a vulnerability affecting the Contact Form 7 plugin in WordPress. It allows authenticated users with editor-level access or higher to upload arbitrary files due to insufficient file type validation in the 'validate' function and an inadequate blocklist on the 'wpcf7_antiscript_file_name' function. While remote code execution is not possible in most cases due to htaccess configuration, the uploaded files may persist on the server thanks to other plugins. This vulnerability can be dangerous when combined with a local file inclusion weakness, potentially allowing attackers to execute remote code.
