Summary

CVE-2023-41894 is a vulnerability that affects Home Assistant, an open-source home automation platform. The vulnerability allows webhooks available in the webhook component to be triggered without authentication, even when marked as only accessible from the local network. This issue is facilitated by the SniTun proxy, which sets the source address to 127.0.0.1 on all requests sent to the public URL and forwarded to the local Home Assistant. The vulnerability has been addressed in version 2023.9.0, and all users are advised to upgrade to this version. There are no known workarounds for this vulnerability, and if exploited, it poses a potential danger to organizations by allowing unauthorized access to Home Assistant and potentially compromising home automation systems and user privacy.
