Summary

CVE-2024-29905 is a vulnerability affecting DIRAC, an interware used for distributed computing. Before version 8.0.41, the proxy generation process (e.g., using `dirac-proxy-init`) was susceptible to unauthorized read access by users on the same machine. This breach allows users to perform any action with the original proxy, though the vulnerability only lasts for a very brief period during the generation process. Version 8.0.41 includes a patch to resolve this issue. As a temporary measure, setting the `X509_USER_PROXY` environment variable to a restricted directory ensures user-only read access, preventing potential risks. After creation, the file can be safely copied to its standard location.
