Summary

CVE-2024-29905 is a vulnerability affecting the DIRAC interware software framework for distributed computing versions prior to 8.0.41. Unauthorized users on the same machine can gain read access to the proxy during the proxy generation process, enabling them to perform any action that is possible with the original proxy. However, this vulnerability only exists for a very short period of time during the generation process. The issue has been patched in version 8.0.41, but as a workaround, setting the `X509_USER_PROXY` environment variable to a path that is only readable by the current user can help mitigate the risk. This vulnerability poses a high risk to organizations as it could lead to unauthorized access and potential misuse of privileged actions with the original proxy.
