Details
Summary
CVE-2024-24824 is a vulnerability affecting Graylog, an open-source log management platform. In versions prior to 5.1.11 and 5.2.4, the HTTP PUT endpoint at `/api/system/cluster_config/` can be exploited to load and instantiate arbitrary classes. Graylog's cluster config system uses class names as config keys, and the vulnerability arises from the lack of validation checks before class instantiation. Attackers with appropriate permissions can exploit this by instantiating classes with one-argument String constructors, causing arbitrary code execution. In the case of `java.io.File`, this results in the exposure of the entire file content in the response. Version 5.1.11 and 5.2.4 include a fix for this issue.
