Summary

CVE-2024-20293 is a vulnerability that affects Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA) Software and Cisco Firepower Threat Defense (FTD) Software. It allows an unauthenticated, remote attacker to bypass the protection provided by an access control list (ACL) on the affected device. The vulnerability occurs when an ACL changes from inactive to active in the device's running configuration. The attacker can exploit this by sending traffic that should be denied by the configured ACL or denying traffic that should be permitted. This could potentially allow the attacker to access trusted networks protected by the device. To remediate this vulnerability, organizations should apply the necessary software updates provided by Cisco. The risk score of this vulnerability is 25, with a base severity of MEDIUM according to CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:C/C:N/I:L/A:N.
