Summary
CVE-2024-1985 is a Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the Simple Membership plugin for WordPress. This issue, present in all versions up to 4.4.2, allows unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts into pages by exploiting insufficient input sanitization and output escaping in the 'Display Name' parameter. To successfully execute the attack, an attacker would need to trick a user into logging in with the injected payload. The impact of this vulnerability is limited, as the attacker would need access to a user account to execute the malicious code.
