Summary
CVE-2024-0340 is a vulnerability affecting the Linux kernel's vhost_new_msg function in vhost.c. This issue arises due to insufficient memory initialization when handling messages between virtual guests and the host OS. Consequently, local privileged users can exploit this flaw to gain unauthorized access to certain kernel memory contents when reading from the /dev/vhost-net file.
