Details
Summary
CVE-2023-6996 is a vulnerability affecting the Display custom fields in the frontend – Post and User Profile Fields plugin for WordPress. This issue, present in versions up to 1.2.1, allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level permissions and above to execute arbitrary code. The vulnerability stems from insufficient input validation and restricted access to the plugin's vg_display_data shortcode, enabling attackers to inject malicious code and call arbitrary functions. This poses a significant risk, as it can lead to unauthorized data access, modification, or even complete website takeover. Upgrading to the latest version of the plugin or implementing appropriate security measures is strongly recommended.
