Summary

CVE-2023-6996 is a vulnerability in the Display custom fields plugin for WordPress, affecting all versions up to and including 1.2.1. The vulnerability allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level and above permissions to execute code through the plugin's vg_display_data shortcode, leading to code injection. This occurs due to insufficient input validation and access restriction on the shortcode. The vulnerability has a base severity rating of HIGH, with a CVSS score of 8.8. It poses a potential danger to organizations as it could allow attackers to call arbitrary functions and execute malicious code.
