Summary
CVE-2023-6991 is a vulnerability affecting the JSM file_get_contents() Shortcode WordPress plugin before version 2.7.1. This issue allows users with contributor role and above to execute Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) attacks. The plugin fails to validate one of its shortcode parameters, enabling malicious users to make unauthorized requests to internal resources. These attacks could potentially expose sensitive data or allow unauthorized access to internal systems. Users are strongly encouraged to update the plugin to the latest version to mitigate this risk.
