Details
Summary
CVE-2023-5473 is a use-after-free vulnerability affecting Google Chrome versions prior to 118.0.5993.70. This issue resides in the Cast functionality and allows a remote attacker to potentially exploit heap corruption if they have already compromised the renderer process. Although the impact is rated as low by Chromium security, successful exploitation could result in arbitrary code execution or memory corruption. Attackers could leverage a specially crafted HTML page to manipulate the affected component and potentially gain unauthorized access to sensitive information or take control of the user's system. Users are strongly encouraged to update their Google Chrome browsers to the latest version to mitigate this risk.
