Summary

CVE-2023-5436 is a vulnerability affecting the Vertical Marquee plugin for WordPress. This issue allows authenticated attackers with subscriber-level or higher permissions to execute SQL Injections due to insufficient escaping on user-supplied parameters and the lack of proper preparation of existing SQL queries. Consequently, attackers can append additional SQL queries to already existing ones, potentially extracting sensitive information from the database. WordPress users are advised to update the Vertical Marquee plugin to a version beyond 7.1 to mitigate this risk.
