Summary

CVE-2023-41327 is a vulnerability affecting WireMock, a tool used for mocking HTTP services. Until version 3.0.0-beta-15, WireMock's filtering of target addresses for Webhooks in proxy mode did not function properly, leaving users potentially vulnerable. Malicious POST requests from webhooks could be forwarded to arbitrary services reachable from WireMock, posing a risk for internal and external attacks. For instance, in private clusters, an attacker could trigger unsecured API calls or even gain access to secure APIs using authentication headers. The issue has been resolved in versions 2.35.1 and 3.0.3, but Wiremock Studio users unable to upgrade should employ external firewall rules to define permitted destinations.
