Summary

The vulnerability identified as CVE-2023-41327 affects WireMock, a tool used for mocking HTTP services. Until version 3.0.0-beta-15 of the WireMock Webhooks Extension, the filtering of target addresses did not work for Webhooks, potentially leaving users vulnerable regardless of their settings. This vulnerability allowed POST requests from a webhook to be forwarded to an arbitrary service reachable from WireMock's instance, posing a risk of unauthorized access to internal APIs or even secure ones with authentication headers. The issue has been addressed in versions 2.35.1 and 3.0.3 of WireMock, providing a remedy for organizations using the affected products (including sqnDfX, sqnDfW, sqnDfV, and others). The potential danger lies in the possibility of attackers exploiting this vulnerability to gain unauthorized access and potentially compromise sensitive data or systems within an organization.
