Summary

CVE-2023-38505 is a vulnerability in DietPi-Dashboard, a web dashboard for the operating system DietPi. The vulnerability allows an attacker to lock the dashboard in a state where it is waiting for a TLS handshake, preventing any legitimate traffic from reaching the dashboard. This can last indefinitely and poses a high danger to organizations using version 0.6.1 of DietPi-Dashboard. To remediate the issue, users should update to version 0.6.2 which includes a patch for this vulnerability. As a workaround, it is recommended to use a reverse proxy in front of the dashboard and have it handle any HTTPS connections instead of using HTTPS mode on the open internet where anyone can connect.
