Summary
CVE-2023-36456 is a vulnerability that affects the open-source Identity Provider, authentik, prior to versions 2023.4.3 and 2023.5.5. It occurs when authentik setups are directly accessible by users without a reverse proxy. This vulnerability allows for possible spoofing of IP addresses in logs and downstream applications proxied by the built-in outpost. It poses a potential security risk as it can bypass IP-based authentication checks and make the IP addresses in logfiles and user sessions unreliable.
