Summary

CVE-2023-3603 is a cyber vulnerability that affects various products, including Qtrcsp, Qtrcsr, Qtrcsq, X6-St4, X6-St5, and many more. The vulnerability arises from a missing allocation check in the sftp server's processing of read requests. This can lead to a NULL dereference on low-memory conditions. A malicious client can exploit this vulnerability by requesting up to 4GB SFTP reads, causing the allocation of large buffers that are not checked for failure. As a result, the authenticated user's sftp server connection may crash or cause a denial-of-service (DoS) for legitimate users on thread-based servers. No security releases have been issued as the vulnerable code is not present in any released versions. The base severity of this vulnerability is low with an exploitability score of 1.6 out of 10.
