Summary

CVE-2023-28364 is a newly disclosed Open Redirect vulnerability affecting the built-in QR scanner in Brave Browser for Android prior to version 1.52.117. This issue allowed malicious QR codes to redirect users to unintended websites automatically, without displaying the URL first for user confirmation. This posed a significant security risk as users could unknowingly visit malicious sites, potentially leading to data theft or other forms of cyberattacks. With the release of version 1.52.117, the vulnerability has been addressed, and users are now required to manually navigate to the URLs scanned via QR codes.
