Summary
CVE-2023-25910 is a newly discovered vulnerability affecting multiple Siemens automation software products, including SIMATIC PCS 7, SIMATIC S7-PM, and SIMATIC STEP 7 V5. The issue lies in a database management system component, which allows low-privileged remote users to execute embedded functions with elevated privileges, either on a local or network-shared database. An attacker with network access to the affected servers could exploit this vulnerability to run malicious code within the database management system server. This puts vulnerable systems at risk of unauthorized system access and potential data breaches. The affected versions are all below V9.1 SP2 UC04 for SIMATIC PCS 7, V5.7 SP1 HF1 for SIMATIC S7-PM, and V5.7 for SIMATIC STEP 7 V5. It is highly recommended to update these systems as soon as possible to mitigate this risk.
