Summary

CVE-2023-20239 is a vulnerability in the web-based management interface of Cisco Firepower Management Center (FMC) Software. It allows an authenticated, remote attacker to conduct SQL injection attacks on affected systems. The vulnerability occurs due to insufficient validation of user input. An attacker with Read Only user credentials could exploit this vulnerability by sending crafted SQL queries to the application, resulting in data extraction from the database, execution of arbitrary commands on the operating system, and privilege escalation to root. To remediate this vulnerability, it is recommended to apply the necessary updates or patches provided by Cisco. This vulnerability poses a high danger to organizations as it could lead to unauthorized access, data theft, and potential control over affected systems.
