Summary

CVE-2000-0369 is a denial-of-service vulnerability affecting the IDENT server in Caldera Linux 2.3. The server creates a new thread for each IDENT request, resulting in an excessive number of threads being generated when faced with repeated requests. An attacker can exploit this by sending multiple IDENT requests, causing the server to become overwhelmed and ultimately crash. This can result in a denial-of-service condition for the impacted system.
