Summary
CVE-1999-0747 is a denial-of-service vulnerability affecting BSDi Symmetric Multiprocessing (SMP) systems. When the system experiences high CPU load, an fstat call results in a denial-of-service condition due to an infinite loop in the kernel's process table handling. This issue can cause the system to become unresponsive and consume excessive resources, resulting in a significant performance degradation or even a complete system crash. Attackers could intentionally trigger this condition by sending specific requests to the vulnerable system, causing a denial-of-service attack. System administrators should apply the available patch to mitigate this vulnerability and prevent potential attacks.
