Summary

CVE-1999-0211 is a vulnerability affecting some mount daemons that allows for the mounting of NFS directories by unauthorized users. The issue arises when export lists, which can exceed the standard limit of 256 characters, are processed by the system. This extra-long export list can be exploited, granting anyone access to the vulnerable system's directories. Such unauthorized access poses a significant security risk and may lead to data theft or unintended modifications. To mitigate this issue, it is recommended to apply relevant patches or upgrades to the affected mount daemons, and limit access to NFS services to trusted networks and users.
