Details
Summary
CVE-2024-6501 is a denial-of-service vulnerability affecting NetworkManager. When DEBUG logs are enabled and LLDP is enabled on interface eth1, a maliciously crafted LLDP packet can cause NetworkManager to crash. The malformed packet injection does not require user privileges, making this a potential threat even in standard network configurations. Successful exploitation results in a denial of service, disrupting network operations. System administrators are advised to disable DEBUG logs and LLDP on unnecessary interfaces or upgrade to a patched version of NetworkManager to mitigate this risk.
