Summary

CVE-2024-6383 is a buffer overflow vulnerability affecting the bson_string_append function in versions of the MongoDB C Driver prior to 1.27.1. This issue arises when the function attempts to allocate a buffer that is too small, leading to memory corruption of adjacent heap memory. This vulnerability can potentially be exploited by an attacker to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service. Users are strongly encouraged to upgrade to the latest version of libbson to mitigate this risk.
