Summary

CVE-2024-5612 is a vulnerability found in the Essential Addons for Elementor Pro plugin for WordPress, affecting all versions up to and including 5.8.15. The vulnerability allows authenticated attackers with Contributor-level access and above to inject arbitrary web scripts through the 'eael_lightbox_open_btn_icon' parameter within the Lightbox & Modal widget. This can lead to Stored Cross-Site Scripting, as the input sanitization and output escaping are insufficient. The potential danger is that these injected scripts can execute whenever a user accesses an injected page, posing a risk to the organization's integrity and confidentiality. To remediate this vulnerability, users should update their Essential Addons for Elementor Pro plugin to a version beyond 5.8.15.
