Summary

CVE-2024-5571 is a vulnerability found in the EmbedPress – Embed PDF, Google Docs, Vimeo, Wistia, Embed YouTube Videos, Audios, Maps & Embed Any Documents in Gutenberg & Elementor plugin for WordPress. This vulnerability affects all versions up to and including 4.0.1 of the plugin. The issue arises from insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user supplied attributes within the plugin's EmbedPress PDF widget. This allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access or higher to inject arbitrary web scripts into pages that will execute when accessed by a user. The risk score for this vulnerability is 30 out of 100, with a base severity level of MEDIUM. The exploitability score is 3.1 out of 10, indicating a relatively low level of difficulty in exploiting this vulnerability.
