Summary

CVE-2024-5501 is a vulnerability affecting the Supreme Modules Lite – Divi Theme, Extra Theme, and Divi Builder plugin for WordPress. This vulnerability allows authenticated attackers with Contributor-level access or higher to inject arbitrary web scripts via the 'button_one_id' parameter, leading to Stored Cross-Site Scripting. The vulnerability exists in all versions up to and including 2.5.51 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. The potential danger of this vulnerability is that it enables attackers to execute malicious scripts whenever a user accesses an injected page. To remediate this vulnerability, users should update the affected plugin to a version beyond 2.5.51, which addresses the issue of input sanitization and output escaping inadequacies.
