Summary
CVE-2024-5042 is a vulnerability affecting the Submariner project. This issue arises from excessive role-based access control permissions, enabling a privileged attacker to execute a malicious container on a node. The attacker can then steal service account tokens, potentially escalating their access to compromise other nodes and ultimately the entire cluster.
