Summary

CVE-2024-4984 is a vulnerability affecting the Yoast SEO plugin for WordPress. This vulnerability allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access and above to inject arbitrary web scripts via the 'display_name' author meta. The vulnerability exists in all versions up to and including 22.6 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. When successfully exploited, these injected scripts can execute whenever a user accesses an injected page, posing a potential danger to organizations using the affected plugin. To remediate this vulnerability, users should update their Yoast SEO plugin to version 22.7 or higher, which includes the necessary security patches.
