Summary

CVE-2024-4536 is a security vulnerability found in Eclipse Dataspace Components version 0.2.1 to 0.6.2, specifically in the EDC Connector component. This vulnerability allows an attacker to obtain OAuth2 client secrets from the vault. The issue arises when using a custom, OAuth2-protected data sink, where the clientSecretKey provided by the consumer is resolved in the provider's vault instead of the consumer's vault. As a result, the secret's value is sent to a consumer-controlled tokenUrl as part of an OAuth2 client credentials grant, potentially compromising the confidentiality of sensitive information. This vulnerability has a base severity rating of MEDIUM and requires HIGH privileges, with no user interaction needed for exploitation. The feature related to this vulnerability has been disabled to mitigate risk.
