Summary
CVE-2024-4198 is a vulnerability affecting Mattermost versions 9.6.0, 9.5.x before 9.5.3, and 8.1.x before 8.1.12. An authenticated attacker with team admin privileges can exploit this issue by sending crafted HTTP requests to demote regular users to guests, bypassing the expected role validation process. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability could lead to unintended access to team functionalities or sensitive information.
