Details
Summary
CVE-2024-35187 is a vulnerability affecting the Stalwart Mail Server, an open-source mail server, prior to version 0.8.0. This issue enables attackers who have achieved Arbitrary Code Execution as the stalwart-mail user to bypass the system's isolation and gain complete root access, despite the mail server typically running as a separate user. This vulnerability undermines the intended protection mechanism, potentially impacting system administrators who have granted mail server admin credentials without wanting to grant root access and users who have been successfully attacked through another vulnerability. Version 0.8.0 includes a patch to address this issue.
