Summary

CVE-2024-3494 is a vulnerability found in the Mesmerize Companion plugin for WordPress, affecting all versions up to and including 1.6.148. The vulnerability allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access or higher to inject arbitrary web scripts through the plugin's 'mesmerize_contact_form' shortcode, due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user supplied attributes. This can result in stored cross-site scripting attacks, where the injected scripts will execute whenever a user accesses a page with the injected content. The risk score for this vulnerability is 25 out of 100, indicating a medium severity level. Remediation measures should include updating to a fixed version of the plugin that addresses the issue promptly to mitigate any potential danger this vulnerability poses to organizations using the affected product.
