CVSS 3.1 Score 8.3 of 10 (high)
Details
Summary
CVE-2024-34347 affects the @hoppscotch/cli tool, which allows running Hoppscotch Test Scripts in Continuous Integration (CI) environments. Prior to version 0.8.0, the @hoppscotch/js-sandbox package used Node.js vm module for sandboxing user scripts. However, this module is not secure for untrusted JavaScript code, as it allows the code to break out if it gains access to objects created outside the sandbox. @hoppscotch/js-sandbox passes several external references into the vm context for pre-request scripts, enabling interactions with environment variables and other features. Consequently, the pre-request script can exploit this vulnerability to escape the sandbox. This issue is resolved in version 0.8.0.
