Summary

CVE-2024-3183 is a vulnerability found in FreeIPA that affects various products. The vulnerability arises when a Kerberos TGS-REQ is encrypted using the client's session key, while the ticket it contains is encrypted using the target principal key directly. If an attacker compromises a principal, they can retrieve tickets encrypted to any principal and use brute force attacks to decrypt them by combining character strings with the principal salt. This vulnerability poses a high risk to organizations as it can lead to unauthorized access and compromise of sensitive information. Remediation for this vulnerability should include updating affected products and implementing strong password policies.
