Summary

CVE-2024-28867 is a vulnerability in Swift Prometheus, a Swift client for the Prometheus monitoring system. The vulnerability occurs when un-sanitized string values are applied to metric names or labels. An attacker can exploit this by sending a `?lang` query parameter containing newlines or similar characters, allowing them to take control of the exported format. This can lead to the creation of unlimited stored metrics, increased server memory usage, or the generation of "bogus" metrics. The vulnerability has been fixed in version 2.0.0-alpha.2. The risk score for this vulnerability is 25, with a base severity of MEDIUM and an exploitability score of 2.2.
