Summary
CVE-2024-28867 is a vulnerability affecting Swift Prometheus, a Swift client for the Prometheus monitoring system. This issue arises when _un-sanitized user input_ is used in constructing metric names or labels. An attacker can exploit this by sending a malicious `?lang` query parameter containing newlines, `}` or similar characters. This can result in the attacker creating an unlimited number of stored metrics, inflating server memory usage, or introducing false metrics. This vulnerability has been addressed in Swift Prometheus version 2.0.0-alpha.2.
