Summary

CVE-2024-28255 is a critical vulnerability in the OpenMetadata platform, affecting its API authentication mechanism. The vulnerability allows an attacker to bypass JWT token validation by manipulating path parameters in a request. This means that the attacker can reach any arbitrary endpoint without proper authentication, including endpoints that may lead to arbitrary SpEL (Spring Expression Language) injection. The impact of this vulnerability is high, as it compromises both the confidentiality and integrity of the system. To remediate this issue, it is recommended to update OpenMetadata to a patched version that addresses this vulnerability.
