Summary
CVE-2024-28243 is a vulnerability affecting KaTeX, a JavaScript library used for rendering TeX math expressions on the web. Malicious input containing `\\edef` commands can cause a near-infinite loop, even when `maxExpand` is set to prevent such behavior. This issue poses an availability risk, as it can lead to memory overflow, stack overflow, or tying up the main thread when a client attempts to render another user's KaTeX input. Upgrading to KaTeX v0.16.10 addresses this vulnerability.
