Summary

CVE-2024-28194 is a vulnerability found in YourSpotify versions prior to 1.8.0, an open-source, self-hosted Spotify tracking dashboard. It is caused by the use of a hardcoded JSON Web Token (JWT) secret to sign authentication tokens, which allows attackers to forge valid authentication tokens and bypass the authentication process. As a result, arbitrary users, including admin users, can be authenticated by exploiting this vulnerability. The issue has been addressed in version 1.8.0, and users are advised to upgrade to this version as there are no known workarounds. The severity of this vulnerability is rated as critical with a base score of 9.1 according to CVSS:3.1 standards, posing high risks to confidentiality and integrity.
