Summary

CVE-2024-28115 is a vulnerability that affects FreeRTOS Kernel versions up to 10.6.1, a real-time operating system for microcontrollers. The vulnerability allows for local privilege escalation through Return Oriented Programming techniques if there is a code injection and execution vulnerability present. Specifically, it impacts ARMv7-M MPU ports and ARMv8-M ports with Memory Protected Unit (MPU) support enabled. To remediate the issue, users should update to version 10.6.2, which includes a new MPU wrapper to fix the problem.
