Summary

CVE-2024-27100 is a vulnerability affecting Discourse, an open source platform for community discussion. In certain versions, the endpoints for suspending users, silencing users, and exporting CSV files did not enforce limits on the sizes of the parameters they accept. This could result in excessive resource consumption, potentially rendering an instance inoperable. The vulnerability could be exploited by a malicious moderator within the same site or a malicious staff member on another site within the same multisite cluster. The issue has been patched in the latest stable, beta, and tests-passed versions of Discourse, and users are advised to upgrade to mitigate the risk. There are no known workarounds for this vulnerability.
