Summary
CVE-2024-27081 is a security misconfiguration vulnerability in ESPHome, a system used for controlling ESP8266/ESP32 devices. In affected versions 2023.12.9 of the dashboard component (command line installations), authenticated remote attackers can exploit a flaw in the edit configuration file API, enabling them to read and write arbitrary files under the configuration directory. This vulnerability, which was patched in version 2024.2.1, potentially allows for remote code execution.
