Summary
CVE-2024-26266 is a stored cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting Liferay Portal versions 7.2.0 through 7.4.3.13, and older unsupported versions, as well as Liferay DXP versions with certain updates. This issue allows remote authenticated users to inject arbitrary web scripts or HTML into the Announcement and Alerts widgets. The vulnerability is located in the first/middle/last name text field of the user creating an entry. Successful exploitation could result in unintended execution of malicious code, potentially leading to serious security risks. Users are advised to upgrade to the latest supported versions to mitigate this vulnerability.
