Summary

CVE-2024-26132 is a vulnerability affecting Element Android, specifically versions 0.91.0 through 1.6.12. It allows a malicious third-party application on the same device to share files stored in the application's private data directory to an arbitrary room. While the impact is reduced due to encryption, sensitive information such as the FCM token can still be accessed. Forks of Element Android that have set `android:exported="false"` in the `AndroidManifest.xml` file for the `IncomingShareActivity` activity are not affected. The issue has been fixed in Element Android 1.6.12, and there is no known workaround to mitigate the vulnerability. The severity of this vulnerability is rated as MEDIUM with a base score of 4.0 according to CVSS version 3.1, indicating a potential risk to confidentiality and a low risk to integrity and availability of data.
