Summary
CVE-2024-25608 is a vulnerability in Liferay Portal versions 7.2.0 through 7.4.3.18, as well as older unsupported versions, and Liferay DXP versions before update 19, 7.3 before update 4, and 7.2 before fix pack 19, and older unsupported versions. This vulnerability can be exploited by remote attackers to redirect users to arbitrary external URLs through various parameters that rely on HtmlUtil.escapeRedirect, such as the 'redirect' parameter, 'FORWARD_URL' parameter, 'noSuchEntryRedirect' parameter, and others. The exploit requires no privileges and user interaction is required for it to be successful. The impact of this vulnerability is considered low in terms of integrity and confidentiality. To remediate this vulnerability, organizations should update their Liferay Portal installations to the latest version available or apply the necessary fix packs and updates as recommended by Liferay.
