Summary

CVE-2024-25608 is a vulnerability affecting Liferay Portal versions 7.2.0 to 7.4.3.18, and older unsupported releases, as well as Liferay DXP versions before update 19, 7.3 before update 4, and 7.2 before fix pack 19, and older unsupported versions. This issue allows remote attackers to bypass the HtmlUtil.escapeRedirect function by using the "REPLACEMENT CHARACTER" (U+FFFD). As a result, users can be redirected to arbitrary external URLs through several parameters, including 'redirect', 'FORWARD_URL', 'noSuchEntryRedirect', and others that depend on HtmlUtil.escapeRedirect.
