Summary

CVE-2024-25607 is a vulnerability affecting Liferay Portal versions 7.2.0 through 7.4.3.15, and older unsupported editions, as well as Liferay DXP versions before update 16, 7.3 before update 4, 7.2 before fix pack 17, and older unsupported versions. This issue lies in the default password hashing algorithm (PBKDF2-HMAC-SHA1), which employs a low work factor. Attackers can exploit this vulnerability by employing faster cracking techniques to obtain password hashes, posing a significant risk to unsecured systems. It is highly recommended that affected organizations upgrade to the latest versions or apply available patches to mitigate this threat.
