Summary

CVE-2024-25140 is a vulnerability found in RustDesk 1.2.3 on Windows. The default installation of this software places a WDKTestCert certificate under Trusted Root Certification Authorities with Enhanced Key Usage of Code Signing, which is valid for a long period of time. The concern arises because there is no public documentation on the security measures for the private key, potentially leading to arbitrary software being signed if the private key is compromised. The vendor's explanation is that they use the test certificate as a workaround since they do not have an EV cert. This poses a high risk to organizations as it could allow attackers to sign malicious software with the compromised private key. Remediation for this vulnerability is not mentioned in the provided information.
