Summary

CVE-2024-25111 is a vulnerability found in Squid, a web proxy cache, affecting versions 3.5.27 and prior to version 6.8. The vulnerability allows for a Denial of Service (DoS) attack through an uncontrolled recursion bug in the HTTP Chunked decoder. An attacker can exploit this vulnerability by sending a specially crafted, chunked, encoded HTTP message. The issue has been addressed in Squid version 6.8, and patches are available for stable releases in Squid's patch archives. There is no known workaround for this vulnerability, and the potential danger it poses to organizations is categorized as high, with a base severity score of 8.6 out of 10 according to the CVSS:3.1 scoring system.
