Summary
CVE-2024-25004 is a stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability affecting KiTTY, a popular SSH and Telnet client, versions 0.76.1.13 and prior. The flaw arises from insufficient bounds checking and input sanitization at line 2600, which enables an attacker to input more data than intended in the username field. Consequentially, adjacent memory is overwritten, providing an attacker with the opportunity to execute arbitrary code. This vulnerability poses a significant risk to users, as successful exploitation can lead to a complete system takeover.
