CVSS 3.1 Score 8.6 of 10 (high)
Details
Summary
CVE-2024-2491 is a Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the PowerPack Addons for Elementor plugin for WordPress. This issue, present in all versions up to 2.7.17, allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access or higher to inject malicious scripts via the *_html_tag* attribute of multiple widgets. The insufficient input sanitization and output escaping in the plugin make it possible for the attacker to execute arbitrary web scripts whenever a user accesses an injected page. This weakness could lead to various types of attacks, including data theft, unauthorized access, and website defacement. It's essential for WordPress users to update the plugin to the latest version as soon as possible to mitigate this risk.
