Summary

CVE-2024-24820 is a vulnerability affecting Icinga Director, a tool used for easy configuration handling of Icinga 2. The vulnerability allows for cross-site request forgery (CSRF) attacks, enabling attackers to make changes to the monitoring environment without the victim's knowledge. To remediate this issue, users of the map module in version 1.x should upgrade to v2.0, and XSS vulnerabilities in Icinga Web have already been fixed. Upgrading to the most recent release of the 2.9, 2.10, or 2.11 branch is recommended if not yet done. Minor updates will be provided to the 1.8, 1.9, 1.10, and 1.11 branches of Icinga Director to address this issue. If immediate upgrading is not feasible, disabling the director module temporarily is advised. The potential danger posed by this vulnerability is rated as high with a base severity score of 8.3 out of 10 and significant impacts on integrity and confidentiality.
